Taking time off during the project can be disruptive to your team’s objectives, that's why we have certain guidelines that we suggest everyone to follow when taking time off.

First and foremost, make sure to ask your client if it is ok for you to take some time off. You need to have their consent before you make any irreversible plans. Make sure to notify your teammates that you'll be unavailable.

There are three types of time-off:

Short holidays (up to 5 days)
We advise you to request a short holiday 2 weeks in advance. Please take into account your own and your team’s objectives when requesting time off, and make sure someone covers for you if necessary.

Long holidays (more than 5 days)
A longer holiday should be requested 4 weeks in advance. Please be considerate and talk about it with your client ahead of time so they can plan accordingly.

Emergency leave
If you’re sick and cannot show up to work, please notify the client immediately, or get in touch with us by sending an email to feedback@pilot.co. We’ll inform the client and amend your booking. Remember that no-shows are treated differently than sick leave under our cancellation policy.

Here are a few things worth remembering:

  • National holidays are considered as normal work days, so you need to request time off if you plan to honour them.
  • Holidays and sick leave are unpaid. This means we won’t charge the client for them, and you won’t get paid. Please take that into account when calculating your minimum preferred rate.
  • A client can decline your request for time off. If your request is declined, please respect your client's decision.
