A Foreign Inward Remittance Certificate (FIRC) is a document that acts as proof of foreign transfers to India. Contractors that live in India and receive international payments can request a FIRC for every international payment they receive.

To request a FIRC, contractors should send a letter to their bank with the following details of the transaction:

  • UTR (Unique Transaction Reference) number (Pilot can provide this number; please contact us at support@pilot.co to request the UTR)

  • Name of recipient

  • Account number

  • Amount of the transfer

  • Date of the transfer

  • Purpose of the transfer

You will then need to pay your bank for the issuance of the FIRC, which will be delivered either physically or electronically, depending on your bank.

Fees for Issuance

590 INR (includes 18% tax) per transaction (per remittance).

Usually, the fee should be paid by demand draft favoring "YES Bank Ltd, payable Mumbai". However, due to the ongoing pandemic, YES Bank is currently not accepting any demand drafts. The payment of 590 INR should be sent via NEFT to the bank details below:

Attach proof of payment for the fee to the request letter. Please also specify the postal address where you would like the certificate(s) to be delivered.

Turnaround time

The maximum turnaround time is 10 working days. If there is a delay with your application, please check if all the necessary forms have been correctly filled and sent.

Please note that the duration mentioned is the processing period and does not include the time taken to ship documents from you to YES Bank and back.

Fees for issuance

There is a charge of 177 INR (Including currently applicable 18% GST) for Bank and non-HDFC Bank customers per transaction per Advice Issuance. If the transaction is older than 1 year, charges are Rs 354 (Including currently applicable 18% GST). You should attach a demand draft favoring "HDFC Bank Ltd-Advice Charges" along with the request letter.

HDFC Bank customers can directly mention the account number and the amount to get debited for the advice issuance in the request letter (letter to be signed by the authorized signatory).

Turnaround time

The time taken to process the Advice by HDFC Bank is 5 working days (for transactions processed within one year) and 10 working days (for transactions processed beyond one year).
